These are some of the hobo icons for traveling trains. They communicate a wide range of viatal information whether its for a good place to sleep or if dangerous people are in the area. Ive lived with and have come to know many trainriders and it is amazing how they memorize the rail system and codes to know whether a train will take them home or somewhere very far away. The artist Basquiat also used these symbols in his paintings and drawings.

Pretty interested. I guess that's a really good example of how helpful icons can be.. as long as you know what they mean, tho some of these are far from ambiguous.
That's awesome. I wanna stow away on a freight train and draw secret codes, damnit!
